Blog #4 What's The Big Deal With Cameras?

I am sure that everyone knows what a camera is since everyone uses one on the daily, but have you ever wondered where they come from and when they were actually created? That is a question I am sure many people have since cameras and photography have become very mainstream and commonly used in today's society to the extent that people find it unusual when someone is not taking pictures of almost everything that they see. The very first type of camera created was the camera obscura made in 4th century BC which projected an image of a scene onto a wall or flat surface.  However it was not as commonly used then as it was compared to the renaissance era in 1502 AD.

The first photograph ever taken was in 1827 by Nicephore Niepce taken of the view of the Window at Le Gras when he used a thin sheet of metal with a small film of chemicals to spread onto it and took about 8 hours for the image to fully set in on the paper.

In 1839, the Daguerreotype which was a popular metal plate that really opened up the fascination with art, photography, and cameras. This specific type of camera was more so for the wealthy because it was very expensive, messy, and time consuming.

In 1888, the first Kodak camera was created George Eastman of Rochester, New York. This camera allowed for people to simply push a button and have a picture come out. Eastman took the world by storm with all of his camera and photography inventions after the Kodak such as different types of film both in rolls and sheets, as well as cameras for beginners, camera enthusiasts, and professional photographers.

With all of the information listed, it is very easy to see that cameras have a very very long history that I am sure most people who use their cellular devices to take pictures, videos, create movies etc would not even think twice about but it is very interesting how long the history of these devices is. The timeline starts all the way to before christ which is thousands of years ago so they are ancient in retrospect however cameras have only revolutionized and become much more technologically advanced throughout the years so I definitely think it is worthwhile to go ahead and take a look at the history of different technological devices that have been around for centuries because it really makes you appreciate these devices much more.

Blog #6 Technology

There are so many things that I have learned from other people. To start off, I think the most prominent thing I have learned from others regarding technology is very addictive especially in this day and age where it is such a mainstream thing all around us in society, I have grown up with technology all around me, and through the years it has only grown to become something so advanced and part of people's daily lives. As I grew up and saw how attached people around me were to technology especially social media, I realized that I was becoming the same way so I started limiting how long I could be on my phone when I got home from school by setting an alarm and then I would start doing my homework, take a shower, eat food, then at the end of the day when I was about to go to bed I would go on my phone for about an hour max.  Technology is a very fickle thing to get under control because of how much people take advantage of it. There are lots of reasons why technology has helpe...

Why Are The 8 Values of Free Expression Important?

In today's day and age, people are fearful of speaking out about their thoughts, feelings, problems, etc because they will either receive backlash, hate, or people will just refuse to listen. There are times that people are heard but it is unfortunately not as much as people would think which is a big issue in society. Because of many sensitivities, people have to constantly monetize what they say around certain people because otherwise it could be interpreted in the wrong way and that person could get "cancelled" which is another toxic trait that society has stuck to in recent years. People's voices should be heard if they are asking to be listened to instead of just having them get thrown in a corner and not be cared about. I feel like it is especially hard for younger generations to be given freedom of speech. Being a college student myself, it definitely is more nerve wracking speaking to people because they are always judging what you are saying and you never w...
