What Did You Learn About The Supreme Court That You Didn't Know Before?

There were quite a few things that I did not know before I read the article like how the very first supreme court was created by Chief Justice John Ray and the associate judges were John Rutledge, William Cushing, John Blair, Robert Harrison, and James Harrison. I also did not know that the highest judicial officer is in charge of seeing over the Supreme Court and scheduling weekly meetings which definitely sounds like a handful. The Chief Justice also looks over impeachments against presidents of the United States which then go to trial. I had taken history classes in high school so I know some basics but I do not know details about the history so this was definitely very interesting to learn about.

What Is The Most Important Take Away Point About the Supreme Court?

The most important take away that I found after reading is the basics of the Supreme Court such as when it was created, who it was created by, as well as how it functioned when it was first created compared to today's day and age and how it has changed over the years since it was first established.

What Was The Most Surprising Thing You Learned?

The most surprising thing that I read about was some of the important cases that were listed starting off with Mapp v Ohio which stated that any evidence found illegally is unable to be used in criminal cases, Texas v Johnson says that the American flag being burned and any harsh or offensive speech is protected by the First Amendment which was very surprising to me because I would have thought the complete opposite. And last but not least, United States v Windsor which stated that the Government had no authority to to deny any federal benefits to same sex couples. There were many more listed but those were the ones that stuck out to me the most

Blog #4 What's The Big Deal With Cameras?

I am sure that everyone knows what a camera is since everyone uses one on the daily, but have you ever wondered where they come from and when they were actually created? That is a question I am sure many people have since cameras and photography have become very mainstream and commonly used in today's society to the extent that people find it unusual when someone is not taking pictures of almost everything that they see. The very first type of camera created was the camera obscura made in 4th century BC which projected an image of a scene onto a wall or flat surface.  However it was not as commonly used then as it was compared to the renaissance era in 1502 AD.   The first photograph ever taken was in 1827 by Nicephore Niepce taken of the view of the Window at Le Gras when he used a thin sheet of metal with a small film of chemicals to spread onto it and took about 8 hours for the image to fully set in on the paper.  In 1839, the Daguerreotype which was a popu...

Why Is Privacy So Important?

Privacy has always been something that most people take for granted especially the younger generations who think they are invincible just because they are young. But that is absolutely not the case in fact, teenagers and younger people are more susceptible to hackers, viruses, etc because they share more in depth views into their lives compared to older generations and adults. Older generations are usually much more cautious and aware of privacy and how to avoid anything ever happening to their accounts or any personal accounts/information online.  The privacy issues that were talked about in the videos were definitely very concerning to me because hackers and people who steal people's personal information have always been scary to me so I have tried to keep my privacy online at an all time high by having my account on private, having a password that is not easy to hack into, as well as making sure that I get rid of random people that I do not know or anyone that I follow knows....

Blog #6 Technology

There are so many things that I have learned from other people. To start off, I think the most prominent thing I have learned from others regarding technology is very addictive especially in this day and age where it is such a mainstream thing all around us in society, I have grown up with technology all around me, and through the years it has only grown to become something so advanced and part of people's daily lives. As I grew up and saw how attached people around me were to technology especially social media, I realized that I was becoming the same way so I started limiting how long I could be on my phone when I got home from school by setting an alarm and then I would start doing my homework, take a shower, eat food, then at the end of the day when I was about to go to bed I would go on my phone for about an hour max.  Technology is a very fickle thing to get under control because of how much people take advantage of it. There are lots of reasons why technology has helpe...
